Compac Display Modules

Compac offers several rugged and robust models of display modules that can be mounted on Compac sorters or machines re-fit with Compac electronics. These modules provide your packing staff with useful information from the sorter control software, such as the size and grade of the fruit they are packing, to save time and reduce packing mistakes. When the sorter operator makes a change, the display modules are automatically updated so your packers are never in doubt of what they are packing.
Different models have been developed to best suit the application. So whether you are tray packing, volume filling or packing from rotary tables or bins, Compac has a solution.

The CDM can be used to show information such as size, grade, packaging type and identification, target fill weight, current weight in a carton, filling status as well as alerting staff when the carton is near full, full and over full. Your operator can also send packing staff an alert message that will show on every display such as a fruit change or break time.
Compac's CDM 4000 Series display module provides semi-automatic volume fill control or place packing to accurately weight fill cartons where a continuous flow of fruit is delivered from the sorter. Available in weighing and non-weighing models, the CDM displays provide your sorter operator free format message control of the displayed information on each line of the display so you display what you want*. The weighing model is particularly suitable for tomato, nectarine, apricot or other fruit varieties where volume filling is utilized. Fruit can be held in a chute or on pack or rotary tables prior to being loaded into a carton.
Utilizing state of the art electronics and designed with user friendliness in mind, you can easily set up the weighing, change the target fill weight to suit your full carton weight requirement and display the weight in either pounds or kilos from Compac's sorter software.
CDM 4000 is set up for tomatoes and shows
Line 1 - Size and Grade - Small Medium Size with ¾ Color
Line 2 - Packing Style and Package Type - Volume Fill: Carton
Line 3 - Current Fruit Weight in the Carton - 24.5 lbs (can also display in kilos)
Line 4 - Status - The CDM is currently filling and 0.5 lbs underweight from the target weight.
The yellow light on the left can be set to blink when it is close to full. When the target weigh is reached the yellow light changes to green and if the carton goes over weight the light will be red to alert the packer.
Each CDM contains 4 lines** of text with 20 characters per line.
How does the weighing model work?
Outlets with Chutes - Fruit of the same size and color grade are delivered to one or more outlets on the sorter. Fruit are then brought out to the side of the sorter by a cross conveyor and delivered to stainless steel chutes** for accumulation. Packing staff place an empty carton on the scale below the chute and the CDM automatically tares out the carton weight. The CDM then automatically opens the gate on the chute to start filling fruit into the carton. When the correct weight of fruit is delivered into the carton, the chute gate is automatically closed and the small yellow light on the left will turn green to alert your packing staff that the carton is full and ready for removal. Your packing staff can give the filled carton a final inspection then lift the carton off for palletizing or push the full carton onto a conveyor running alongside the sorter and take the carton to the palletizing area.
Outlets with Stationary or Rotary Tables - Fruit of the same size and color grade are delivered to one or more outlets on the sorter. Fruit are then brought out to the side of the sorter by a cross conveyor and delivered to stationary pack tables, rotary pack tables etc. for packing. Packing staff place an empty carton on the scale below the tables and the CDM automatically tares out the carton weight. The CDM then indicates to your packer to start filling fruit into the carton. When the correct weight of fruit is delivered into the carton, the small yellow light on the left will turn green to alert your packing staff that the carton is full and ready for removal. If the carton is over filled the light will flash red to alert your packing staff to remove some fruit till the light is green. Your packing staff can give the filled carton a final inspection then lift the carton off for palletizing or push the full carton onto a conveyor running alongside the sorter to take the carton to the palletizing area.
Your sorter operator can also send all packing staff an alert message that will display on every CDM such as a fruit variety change or break time. These messages will alternate with the pack information shown above and the large yellow light will blink to alert packers of the message on each CDM**. It's a great alternative to shouting or public address systems that can be hard to hear.

BDM 1000 Series Back to Top
Compac's BDM 1000 series is a 6 character digital display. It is used to keep your packing staff informed about what fruit size and grade are coming out at each outlet. The large size of the characters makes it easy for your packing staff to read, even from across a room. The BDMs do away with the time-worn 'sticky notes', blackboard and chalk or taped pieces of paper that operators traditionally used to update packers working around the sorter.

BDMs are available in single-sided and double-sided models. The double-sided models are excellent for machines where tray filling is utilized and trays are introduced on one side of the machine and fruit packed on to the trays on the opposite side. With BDM displays, you'll reduce errors and take out any guesswork your packing staff have regarding the size and grade of fruit they are packing. Your packing staff are updated immediately when the sorter operator makes a change on the sorter. If you have more than one size/grade of fruit coming to an individual outlet the BDM text will alternate every few seconds to show each size/grade combination. These units are particularly useful where you may use tray fillers or demand feed belts for apples, stone fruit, kiwifruit, citrus, potatoes, onions, etc. Additionally, you can send sizer operator defined messages to all your packers such as break time or alerts for specific fruit conditions*.
Compac's BDMs can be fitted to any Compac machine (running current generation electronics and current release software)**.

Compac Sorting Equipment's SDM 1000 Series* display is designed specially for packers who want to reduce packing errors, save time and increase communication to packers around your machine. The SDM is another time saving and error reducing tool developed by Compac Sorting Equipment to increase your packing efficiencies.
There is no more need for packers to guess and no more need for the machine operator to run around your packing machine writing what fruit size, grade or packaging type to use!
Each SDM contains 4 lines** of text with 20 characters per line allow you to provide your packers with current information as to what size, grade, pack type etc they are packing.

Line 2 - Grade - Export Grade

Compac's SDM is specifically designed for use where packing staff are working at packing stations such as rotary tables, packing tables and bagging outlets where you don't need the character size of Compac's BDMs or the size and weighing capability of the CDM model.
